CPO2 Tayne Krishka

CPO2 Tayne Krishka will attend the University of Manitoba this Fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree at the Price Faculty of Engineering specializing in environmental courses. She aspires to one day design and implement new ways to combat environmental issues such as air and water pollution.

As a CPO2 at John Travers Cornwell, VC Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, she instructed Junior Cadets in leadership, instructional techniques and Positive Social Relations for Youth. She has been a clarinetist in the Corps band, a member of the marksmanship team and earned Top Junior Shot Award and advanced to the National Cadet Marksmanship Competition in Victoria, BC. She has her CanSail Level 4 and has participated in three out of Province regattas including the Regional Cadet Sailing Competition. In 2020 she was chosen to attend a weeklong Domestic Tall Ship Deployment in Victoria, BC. She has been a Staff Cadet at the Virtual Cadet Training Centre instructing Virtual Instruction Techniques.

She has volunteered more than 100 hours at a local pet store and has volunteered at her High School, where she was involved with the Education for Sustainable Development Committee and the Graduation Committee helping to plan their safe-grad dinner and dance.

She was intimately involved in the development of the Cadets in her Corps during COVID by helping develop a positive and welcoming online environment. She achieved the Gold Level Fitness Award, won the Chocolate Bar Regatta, placed fourth in the fleet Comox Cup Regatta and ran the RCAF 5K. She keeps fit with running and yoga.
