PO1 Francheska Reyes will attend the University of Manitoba to attain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then wishes to attain a Masters in Nursing to further her studies to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
She has completed the following courses - Basic Seamanship, Ship's Boat Operator, and Geocaching Course. She was also part of the virtual Instructional Techniques Staff. She has participated in her Corp’s Guard and Drill Team and the Provincial and National Marksmanship Competitions. She was awarded or has achieved Top Guardsman Award, Junior Cadet of The Year Award, Level 4 Marksman, Level 2 Communications Badge, Pleasure Craft Operator Card and Restricted Operator's Certificate (Marine). She was the Divisional Petty Officer and an instructor and enjoyed helping the Cadets improve their knowledge and successfully move on to be ready for their next phase of training.
She volunteered at her school to lead a group called ‘Global Medical Aid Student’ to raise awareness and organize fundraisers to support Médecins Sans Frontières. She also organized a school blood drive for the Canadian Blood Services. She was also a member of Sisler High Against Cancer which raised awareness about cancer and to find ways to help within the community. She also volunteered in Lord Nelson School's After School Babysitting Program and Lord Nelson School Community BBQ and was a Remembrance Day Poppy Sale Volunteer.
She has participated in school basketball, volleyball, soccer, and swam outside of school. She likes to dance and that keeps her active and motivated in many different ways and she hopes to become better at as she continues on in the future.
CPO2 Francheska Reyes was unavailable during the Cornwell Memorial Scholarships Presentation on November 14, so her scholarship was presented by Cornwell Branch President, Don Bullee, on Monday, December 5, 2022.
