2024 Ted Lofto Scholarship Recipient

CPO1 Aidan Wood
RCSCC John Travers Cornwell, VC

CPO1 Aidan Wood will be attending the University of Winnipeg this fall with the Faculty of Arts, in pursuit of his dream career of serving as a Naval Warfare Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy.

In Cadets he has achieved the rank of Coxswain, level 3 Communications, level 1 Marksmanship, SCOP 1 - 2, PCOC Instructor, and received the Lt(N) Edgar Burleigh Wilson Award and the Navy League Medal of Excellence. He has been mess president and served on the National Sea Cadet Advisory Pannel, and has been on the Effective Communications and Basic Seamanship courses and a Seamanship deployment.

Aiden received the Maya Marcelino MLA Citizenship Award for his contributions to the community for his work as a student helping determining whether Cecil Rhodes School should be renamed and if so, what the new name should be. He then went on, in high school, to join in numerous committees and due to his hard work on those committees was asked to join the Winnipeg School Division Student Advisory Council. No matter where his career takes him, Aiden intends to be an active member of his community.

As a leader, Aiden did his best to assist and provide guidance to Cadets that were struggling or in need of direction, trying his best to introduce all Cadets to the opportunities and rewards the Cadet program offers.
